I recently hosted a surprise baby shower for my sister in law, who is having a girl and after thinking of many themes for the decorations, came out with this idea, which is not new at all, but totally adorable!!!
The cake is a yellow cake with chocolate filling in the bottom tier and caramel filling on the top one; topped with marshmallow fondant and for the beehive design, used a candy mold, rolled out the fondant on a flat surface and just pressed the mold onto it, that easy. For the daisies, just used the daisy cookie cutter and stack 2 together to give it more dimension; made a small ball with orange fondant :-) and for the bees, used a little yellow ball, giving it the shape of a drop, rolled out some black fondant for the stripes, cut 2 tiny pieces of black for the eyes and with a small brush and black coloring, painted the eyelashes to give them a more girly look.
I also made some bees and daisies cookies and put them in bags to give as favors to the guests, something simple and cute that they get to eat or just keep :-)
I also had my friend Stephanie made me some cheesecake pops, which, i have to say were delicious!!! and beautiful, she decorated them with yellow dark brown candy melts to give them the look of flying bees when we put them next to the cake, soooo cute!! I'll be posting a picture of the invitation i made so you can see, where all the decoration ideas came from...
